      West Valley L4861 Mourns Loss

      Here is a message from West Valley President Bellarts. Our thoughts and prayers are with Local 4861. Our Local family has experienced a tremendous loss this week. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kearstin Cameron, wife of Lt. Sean Cameron, Vice President of Local 4861. We appreciate the outpouring of support during this difficult time.

      If there is one thing Firefighters know all too well, is that nothing in life is a given. Each day is a gift. Tim, of Kingsley Fire in Oregon lives this both on and off duty. We are honored to have him climb with us again in 2017.

      With the help of our OSFFC District 5 Vice President Jeff Puller who is also our IAFF Field Service Representative, we welcome the Crook County Fire Fighters Association, Local 5115.  Local 5115 will be lead by President Chad Grogan,  Vice President Matt Hummel, Secretary Sam Scheideman, and Treasurer Todd Olheiser.


      OSFFC LOCALS.......At the IAFF 2010 Convention, delegates passed a resolution requiring locals to submit to the General Secretary-Treasurer a current copy of their respective constitution and by-laws in a searchable electronic format. If you have not submitted  an electronic version of your local's constitution.

      Fire on Lookout Lane

      On Thursday May 25th 2017 at 6:20 pm the Westport Fire Department received a report of generator on fire at 10 Lookout Lane. When the fire department arrived firefighters found smoke coming from the attached garage with a fire in the garage. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines and were able to put out the fire before it extended the living areas of the house.

      The I-95 Southbound Bridge project started in mid April. This project could pose numerous unique challenges for the members of the New London Fire Department. A previous incident(9/1/2015) where a "Snooper Truck" failed below the surface of the bridge was handled with A-35 from the Groton side of the bridge.

      99th Annual Lynn Firefighter Memorial Sunday Sunday June 11, 2017 at 10:00 at the Lynn Firefighter's Lot in Pine Grove Cemetery.  This year's speaker is retired District Chief Jack Barry.  Members will step off from the Broadway Firehouse at 9:45 AM (assemble at 9:30 AM).  All current and retired members and their families are welcome to attend.

Tickets are $15 and that includes 1 beer and 1 raffle ticket. $10 of the ticket price will go to help us offset the cost of providing meals for this years Burn Camp.

      The Northern Ohio Firefighters would like to thank Representative Dave Greenspan for sponsoring Ohio House Bill 38 to protect fire fighters. The bill passed the Ohio House of Representatives and will now be heard in the Ohio Senate.
      2017 Recruit Class Graduation

      The 2017 Recruit Class graduated from the Quincy Fire Academy on Thursday.  These 27 new recruits bring staffing back to levels the Quincy Fire Department hasn't seen since 2003.  These new firefighters will attend the O2X Health and Wellness training next week and start at their assignments throughout fire stations in Quincy on Saturday, May 27th.

      Westport Firefighters responded to an early morning house fire on April 24th This morning, the Westport Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 189 Cross Highway. The call came in from a trapped occupant reporting a fire in the house. The Westport Fire Department responded with all 11 firefighters and 4 officers on duty, along with Westport Police and EMS.

      Westport Firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at a commercial occupancy on Woodside Lane at 5:55 AM. Two Engine companies, the Truck Company and the Shift Commander were on the initial dispatch. Arriving companies initially staged at locked entry gates and proceeded to walk up the building to investigate the cause of the alarm.
